The wonder of the North
We have been deeply changed riding through upper British Columbia, the Yukon Territory, and Southeast Alaska. Experiencing daily joy and exhilaration slicing through views so expansive and wonderous that the ride becomes a spiritual and visual feast that bankrupts the english language.
Oasis of the Yukon…Whitehorse
Making a turn north onto the grand lady, The Alaska Highway, we head for
Whitehorse. The rare sighting of other vehicles now becomes more common as we approach the crossroads of the North with its deep and colorful history and character.

S.S.Klondike ran the Yukon River from 1921-1950

We drank in the Museums as though sitting with an oldtimer as he mesmerized you with his stories of days gone by…

The culture of the aboriginals known now as “First Nations” is beautifully interwoven into the fabric of the North
The glacial sediment purifies and colors the riverbeds and lakebeds with a stunning clear turquoise not seen in the lower reaches of the continent.
Crossing back and forth from Canada and Southeast Alaska on our way to Skagway, Alaska
Overlooking Skagway with its runway, port, and town. Notice the cruise ships in the distant port.
On to another Gem…The Chilkoot Outpost…our home for 3 days.
These amazing Outpost Cabins are 8 miles up the coast and into the woods past Skagway at the trailhead of the Chilkoot Trail.

The Zalit’s, friends of our daughter Jamelle, took grand care of us as they work in the tourism industry in Skagway. “Need White Pass Train passes?” Done. “Wanna take the city tour on our antique tour buses?” Done. Best fish in town? “The Fish Company”. The tight-knit culture of the tourism employees was wonderful to experience firsthand from the “insider’s” view.

Ohhhhh man… What a cool video!!! You guys are amazing!!!!
